An Integrated Urban Retail Landscape

Located in the rapidly growing metropolitan core of Chongqing, Central MixC reimagines the contemporary shopping center as a layered urban landscape. Rather than functioning as a conventional enclosed mall, the project unfolds as a series of interconnected volumes, terraces, and open public spaces that encourage exploration and interaction. Retail, leisure, and cultural activities are distributed across multiple levels, creating a vibrant environment that blurs the boundaries between architecture, landscape, and city life.

The design responds to Chongqings dense urban condition by carefully balancing scale, connectivity, and accessibility. Through a terraced composition and porous circulation network, the development connects surrounding streets, plazas, and adjacent towers, establishing a new civic destination within the citys evolving skyline.

The architectural language of Central MixC emphasizes fluid forms and horizontal layering to create a dynamic relationship between built space and landscape. Terraces, rooftop gardens, and open promenades provide moments of pause while maintaining visual continuity across the site. This layered composition reduces the perceived scale of the complex while offering a variety of spatial experiences for visitors moving through the development.

At the heart of the project is a network of public spaces designed to support both everyday urban activity and large-scale social gatherings. Outdoor plazas, elevated walkways, and landscaped courtyards connect retail environments with the surrounding city, transforming the complex into an active civic hub. By integrating architecture, landscape, and circulation, Central MixC creates a contemporary retail destination that prioritizes experience, movement, and urban vitality.
